The Young Professionals of the Birmingham Public Library commemorate the rich history and prosperous future of Birmingham’s oldest ethnic institution. The Young Professionals support the Library and culturally and promote its impressive treasures financially. By hosting dynamic lectures, special collection tours, and other social events and by volunteering time and skills, the Young Professionals increase public knowing of and usage of the Library’s resources. Rikesha Suelena Foster, 34, Special Education Teacher with the Birmingham City School District. What is your favorite spot to eat in Birmingham? Slice Stone Pizza and Brew in Lakeview. Why did you try the BPLYP? I’ve been a devoted supporter of the library for years. I’ve offered as a volunteer, monthly donor, so that as a participant in a variety of collection programs. So when the opportunity arose to become listed on the BPLYP table, I felt that was a perfect chance to continue my efforts to support the mission of our collection.

Which is your favorite (or most frequented) library branch? Name some of your favorite books as a young child or teenager. I’ve always loved reading, but will attempt to narrow my selections: Charlotte’s Web, Sweet Valley Twins series, THE TINY Princess, and Les Miserables. What genres do you read the most as a grown-up?

Who are some of your favorite writers? Local Christian Fiction writer Vanessa Davis Stacy and Griggs Hawkins Adams. What is your wish for the populous city of Birmingham? My want Birmingham is that everyone, from school leaders, community members, business owners, everyone, work together communicating ideas to make the town a much better place for future generations.

Do you have a special talent? If so, what is it? I use special needs students and wouldn’t trade it for the world! What’s your favorite quote or inspirational stating? Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in The Lord with all thine center, and low fat not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways recognize Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Students can pick in the trait theory category to go over specific characteristics like the best 5 personality characteristics, emotional and mental intelligence, integrity and self-esteem. Their conversations should center on the relationship between the specific trait and either command leadership or introduction efficiency. The intent behind the trait theories was to define a limited quantity of attributes that could define a leader or the success of a leader. The major restriction of the trait ideas is that they do not take into account the situation in which the leadership occurs. A second group of ideas that can serve as an assessment point are the behavioral theories. These ideas take a look at what leaders actually do.
